 ugh November 20.\n\nLas Cruces–based Chicana interdisciplinary artist Ev
 a Gabriella Flynn crafts work that maps the emotional terrain of the U.S.
 –Mexico border in a poetic way. She has been recognized with a Chihuahua
 n Desert Cultural Fellowship and New Mexico’s Emerging Artist grant\, he
 r work has shown nationally and internationally at venues including SITE S
 anta Fe\, Zhou B Art Center and Field Projects in New York.\n\nThis Octobe
 r 23th Gabiella brings to Western New Mexico University her exhibition Mad
 e of This Place\, wich tells stories of belonging and identity in the US-M
 exico Borderlands through a series of flags\, maps\, and paintings. Gabrie
 lla Flynn uses layered iconography to juxtapose mainstream perceptions of 
 the American Southwest against the lived experience. Immersed in the verna
 cular of the American Southwest and inspired by the collective memory of t
 he region\, the exhibition guides audiences through the physical\, psychol
 ogical\, and cultural landscapes of the Chihuahuan Desert.\n\nIn addition 
 to the exhibition\, Flynn will also lead a hands-on workshop  where parti
 cipants will explore the use of natural pigments and local materials to cr
 eate their own expressive works inspired by the desert landscape (more inf
